This is what the old Clara and Wilmont Irving place looked like before renovations began to restore this home to it's original glory with some upgrades.

Digging down to make room.  The new solid foundation should help ensure that this historical home lasts another few hundred years.

Man from the community hard at work in the restoration.

Aunt Clara's also received a face lift.  The siding was replaced, new energy efficient windows were installed, but the colors and the style kept in line with the period in which the home was built.

The period of the home was kept in mind when adding the finishing touches like this lantern, faucets, tubs, linens, and cabinets.

How close to the beach you ask?  Does this photo answer your question?  The view is magnificent.

A comfortable balance between old and new. the built in cabinets and wainscotting are original to the structure, much of the furnishings are momentos of the past with a blend of new pieces.

Each large bathroom has a spa like feel with new floors, fixtures, and cabinetry.  Each washroom features an old fashioned deep claw-foot tub.

There is much more to see and enjoy at Aunt Clara's Bed and Breakfast, but you will have to come see it in person!

Lifting the house to completely replace the old block foundation with a solid concrete foundation.

Installing the the new in floor heat in the basement.  This will keep the recreation area toasty warm and is energy efficient!

On the interior the home was stripped down to it's bare bones.   Now the home has safe wiring, plumbing, and is well insulated.  Much of the original woodwork was preserved and restored.

A lot of care went into preserving items like the original banister, doors, floors, and much of the moldings.

With the addition of a deck and the gardens, Aunt Clara's is projected to be open for business in June of 2011.
